Frequently Asked Questions
Do you warranty your services?
Yes, we warranty our residential appliance repair services for up to one year. Check out more details about our warranty on our Neighborly Done Right Promise® Terms page.
Should I repair or replace my broken appliance?
It is definitely worth seeing if you can have your appliance repaired. New appliances are expensive and can be a hassle to shop for as you consider the perfect replacement, making sure it’ll fit, and dealing with the drop-off and delivery.
Having said that, the general rule of thumb is to repair your appliance if the repair costs are less than half the cost of a replacement. During your diagnostic service, we’ll help you weigh these pros and cons.
Appliance Care and Maintenance Tips from Mr. Appliance of Colton
Did you know taking care of your appliances can help keep them in tip-top shape and help them reach their expected lifespan? Here are a few tips for your household appliances!
Caring for Your Refrigerator
Change the Water Filter
If your fridge has a water and/or ice dispenser, it's a good idea to change the water filter every 6 months. Doing so will help keep your water and ice clean as well as help prevent sediment buildup in your fridge's water pipes. If you need help locating your filter, check your owner's manual or give the manufacturer a call!
How Do I Fix My Refrigerator That Isn't Cooling?
- First things first, check to make sure your fridge is plugged in.
- Next, check the thermostat to make sure the temperature wasn’t inadvertently changed.
- Next, make sure your fridge isn’t overstuffed with food. This practice can block the cool air vents.
- Finally, consider cleaning your condenser coils. The condenser coils cool and condense the refrigerant. When they are clogged and dirty, they don’t efficiently release heat which will, in turn, affect your fridge’s cooling. To clean the coils, unplug your fridge, remove any access panels, and use a coil cleaning bust and/or vacuum to clean off the dust and debris.
If your fridge still isn’t cooling, give us a call and we’ll be out in a jiffy to take a look!
Check the Gaskets
The gaskets are the rubber linings that keep your fridge and freezer doors sealed to the fridge. Check the gaskets frequently for any tears or sections that might be detached from the fridge. The gaskets help seal the doors shut which keeps the cold air inside the fridge. If the gaskets are damaged, your fridge will loose cool air and not run efficiently.
Caring for Your Washer
We know how tempting it can be to overload your washer to get through the chore quicker. But doing this can damage the washer's drum and decrease overall efficiency. Stay on the safe side and put smaller loads into your washer. Trust us; spending a few extra minutes doing laundry is well worth trying to avoid a sudden breakdown when you need your washer the most.
About Colton
Colton is a city of 54,215 people in San Bernardino County that was first settled in the early 1800s. However, it didn’t become an official city until the Southern Pacific Railroad was laid through Colton on the way to Los Angeles. The city industrialized in response to the railroad, replacing citrus orchards with manufacturing. The postwar boom created more residential neighborhoods, which gave rise to more commerce and a larger economy. Colton is still known for the railroad thanks to Colton Crossing—one of the busiest railroad crossings in the nation. Local landmarks include the Carnegie Library, which is home to the Colton Area Museum.
