Why Would a Refrigerator Stop Working?

Some of the most common reasons refrigerators stop working include:

Gasket Problems

The gaskets are the rubber linings that seal your fridge and freezer doors shut. Dirt and debris or damaged gaskets can prevent your refrigerator doors from sealing. This leads to cool air leaking through your fridge.

Tip: Clean the gaskets with warm water and a cloth and replace it if you notice cracks.

Vent Obstructions

Air needs to circulate throughout the refrigerator. Blocking vents can cause an eventual breakdown.

Tip: Be sure not to overcrowd your refrigerator or set large items of vents.

Frost Buildup

Tip: The optimal temperature is between 38- and 42-degrees Fahrenheit. We recommend removing frost once it reaches half an inch of accumulation.
